I was going through my fountain pen inky stash looking for an olive green color that I hadn’t used in a while. I was deciding between KWZ Prairie Green and Van Diemen’s Anna’s Hummingbird Wing. The two olive green inks are very similar in color except for their shimmers. I decided to go with the Van Diemen’s ink with the bright green shimmers.

Whenever I receive a bottle of ink, I store and keep the bottle in its original box. I find it’s easier to stack the boxes on a shelf. Plus there are times when the graphics on the box needs to be on display.

I opened the box and pulled out the bottle of ink. I had an OMG moment!

This is Van Diemen’s Anna’s Hummingbird Wing. One of my favorite shimmering inky color. I have no idea what happened.

The label on the bottle has been stained with the ink. I’m am careful when I fill my pens with ink and have never had a spill. This is really strange to see.

Inside the bottle is the dried remains of the once shimmering green ink. The cap is on tight and I have no plans to open the bottle as I have no idea of what I would breathe in.

The inside of the box shows a tiny remnant of ink. Where did a whole bottle of ink go?

Here’s my swatch card of this beautiful sparkling ink. I just checked my currently inked journal and the last time I filled a pen with this ink was towards the end of 2023. Since then I’ve been using my other favorite olive green inks like Brane, Prairie Green, and Candied Mint.

I’ve checked my other boxes of Van Diemen’s ink and the bottles are doing fine. So are the other bottles of ink that were stored near this one.
