I found an exclusive ink at the pen show. This one is a collaboration between Robert Oster and Frank from Federalist Pens. This new ink is called Frankly Walnut. I had spent a few minutes at Frank’s table when he handed me this lovely bottle of ink.
From my swatch, I was trying to figure out if this was a brown ink or a red ink. Or maybe a bit of both. I assumed the name would suggest a brown ink. This appears to be a beautiful muted red color.

From my swatch the underlying color definitely appears to be a rose pink.

I pulled out my swatch cards to see what other colors came close to Frankly Walnut. Copper is more burgundy in color. Frankly Scarlet is a dark red color.

Frankly Walnut does not show any sheen. It’s a beautiful color and a great addition to my inky collection.

I thought it was appropriate to create a pen & ink sketch of a walnut.

Frankly Walnut is a lovely wet ink with quite a bit of shading and no sheen. I’m happy to have this ink in my collection and plan on using it for writing and sketching. A big thank you to Frank for providing this beautiful bottle of ink.
